Toyota Warranty FAQ - What is Covered Basics

Every new Toyota vehicle comes with excellent warranty coverage, and given our reputation for quality, you may never find out how good it really is. Should you ever need it, however, Toyota offers the following warranty coverage:

Basic Coverage: Components other than normal wear and maintenance items are covered for 3 years/36,000 miles from the date of first use.

Powertrain Coverage: Your engine, transmission/transaxle, front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, seatbelts and air bags are covered for 5 years/60,000 miles from the date of first use.

Rust-Through Coverage: Corrosion perforation of sheet metal is covered for 5 years/unlimited miles from the date of first use.

Federal Emission Coverage: Components under the federal emission defect warranty are covered for 3 years/36,000 miles from the date of first use and specified major emission control components are covered for 8 years/80,000 miles from the date of first use. Specified major emission control components under emission performance warranty are also covered for 8 years/80,000 miles from the date of first use. In addition, emission performance warranty is applicable for 2 years/24,000 miles from the date of first use in states and local jurisdictions that require a periodic EPA-approved inspection and maintenance program.

California Emission Control Coverage: In California and any other state that adopts California emission warranty provisions, performance warranty and defect warranty coverage is applicable for 3 years/50,000 miles from the date of first use, and specific control devices are covered for 7 years/70,000 miles from the date of first use. Additionally, some vehicles qualify for the "California Emissions Warranty Enhancement".

Hybrid Vehicle System Component Warranty

Hybrid-Related Component Coverage: Hybrid-related components, including the hybrid vehicle battery, battery control module, hybrid control module and inverter with converter, are covered for 8 years/100,000 miles from the date of first use.

Once the vehicle has passed the time or mileage, the vehicle is out of the manufacturer's warranty and the cost of repair becomes the owner's responsibility.
